MY GET UP AND GO HAS GOT LIP AND WENT

How do I know my youth is all spent?
Well, my get up and go has got up and went.
But in spite of it all, I'am able to qrin
When I think of the places my get up has been.
Old age is golden so I've heard it said,
But sometimes I wonder as I qet into hed
With my ears in a drawer and my teeth in a cup,
My eyes on a tab1e unti1 I wake up,
Before sleep dims my eyes I said to myself,
Is there anythinq e1se I should have laid on the shelf
And I am happy to say as I close my door,
My friends are the same or perhaps even more.
When I was young, my slippers were red,
I could kick up my heels riqht over my head.
When I qrew older, my slippers were blue,
Put I could still dance the whole niqht throuqh.
Now, l am old, my slippers are black,
I walk to the store and puff my way hack.
The reason I know my youth is all spent,
My get up and go has got up and went.
But really I don't mind when I think with a qrin,
Of all the places my qet up has been.

Since I have retired from lifes' comnetiti,
I busy myself with comnlete repition.
I get up in the morninq and dust off my wits,
Pick un the paper and read the 'obits'
If my name is missing I know I am not dead,
So I eat a good breakfast and go back to bed.
